Do you go back or carry on?
Unloading a thought that's been plaguing my mind.
Imagine you’re in a vast field. Maybe some mountains in the background, but otherwise, the field stretches out to the horizon in all directions.
You’re on a journey…to wherever you’re supposed to be. But the next town is nowhere in sight. It will probably take weeks to return to the previous town, but you have more than enough food to make that trip. Do you go back or carry on?
This is the scene that appears in my mind when I think of my situation now.
Often, when we think about getting from Point A to Point B, we assume the path should be a straight line. But life doesn’t work like this. There are many detours, roundabouts, and winding paths.
The key isn’t how you get there. You could fly, take a bus, hitch a ride, or even walk. It’s as long as you get where you want to be, as long as you know where you’re headed.
Once you know the direction, what’s left is to take a step forward, and another step, and another… It doesn’t matter if you come across a heavy fog that obscures your vision, or a strong gust that veers you off course a little. Having that compass means you’ll get there eventually, sometimes faster than you’d imagine.
It’s a lot of faith to trust that the next town is just around the corner. But to get back to square one? Now’s not the time.
